Nicky and Kin are the husband and wife team of songwriters called Cocahiba.
They have written and performed locally for some years playing the pubs
and festivals on the Island and supporting visiting artists.
In 2002 they won the best original song in the Island's music competition
"Jewel in the Scene" with their track "Runaway", and in 2003 they were
finalists in the British Academy's UK Songwriting Competition.
Nicky is the voice and lyricist of Cocahiba, her idols include Doris Day and
Ian Dury. Kin has been playing in bands locally for the last 20 years -
notably the idiosyncratic and popular Tholtan Builders - and hinged his
early repertoire around 80's Acid House, Death Metal and Country influences.
Such a variety of influences have created the duo's sensitive and dynamic
sound and their gritty and heartfelt lyrics.
Cocahiba have released a 3 track EP - available now.
They are currently recording their debut album.
