Felix Slim (more below) guitar player, harmonica player and singer, from
Southern Spain, will be coming over with Big Darryl, a ragtime,
goodtime, finger picker well known to Blues Club aficionados.
This blues duo who appeared at the Cazorla Blues Festival (Biggest blues
festival in southern Spain) and Sotogrande Blues Festival this summer. (The
Sotogrande set was shown in its entirety on San Roque T.V.) are all set for
2004.
Felix Slim is an excellent guitar player (acoustic, electric & slide) &
harmonica
player who lives & breathes the blues and what's more is now somewhat of an
expert in the delights of Arthur Guinness' most efficacious elixir.
Big Darryl - Well what can I say. He reckons that he's lost weight since Slim
christened him that. Mmmhh...we sall see. Now, as well as playing guitar,
Darryl is playing mandolin & occasional washboard but apparently still
struggling with the old castanets. Keep applying the ointment Darryl.
Felix B. "Slim"Amieva, born in Ceuta, 29 years ago. Singer, Guitarist and
Harmonica Player he settled in Seville in 1995 and at present is in Estepona
(Malaga), but has no idea where will be found tomorrow.
Self-taught in the study of the Blues right back to it's very roots Slim Felix
has
collaborated with divers bands and artists such as Big Darryl, Alan Bike,
Frameworks Coll & Adrian Coast, Joan Pau Cumellas & Mr. Hurricane Band, The
Andabluses, Bluesville, Mingo Balaguer (former Caledonia BB and Bluesblasters)
Lolo Ortega (former Caledonia Blues Band), July Colin (Blues Boys), Richard Ray
Farrell, Manolo of Arches (former Algeciras Blues Express) Juan Arias (former
Caledonia BB), Juan Clove and others.
He is particularly interested in the Rural Blues (Country Blues, Folk Blues or
Acoustic Blues), which many would consider to be the genuine Blues and
is accompanied from time to time by harmonica players of renown such as Manolo
of Arches, Mingo Balaguer, "Harmonica" Naranjo, Juan Clove, Joan Pau Cumellas,
etc...
Felix is a fine guitarist and Slide player and he sings with the sort of voice
that just might be possessed by the ghost of one of the old-time Bluesmen. ...
he
tries to recreate the sound of the blues from 100 years ago that might have
been heard in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Georgia. ...
As well as his own songs he loves and plays the masterpieces of the old
teachers such as Charley Patton, Son House, Tommy Johnson, Fred McDowell, Blind
B Fuller, Cab Calloway, John Lee Hooker, Duke Ellington and, of course, Robert
Johnson,
