Here's what Kate has to say about herself:
"I was born in Dundas, Southern Ontario, Canada on April 16 1986 and grew up
all over the place - Thunder Bay in Northern Ontario, Edmonton in Alberta, back
to Dundas and finally to the Isle of Man in 1998. My parents are British, so I
have dual nationality, and I have both an older and a younger brother and two
cats :)
I've loved country music since I was about four... my musical influences have
changed throughout the years, I guess I'm mostly inspired by musicians like
Jewel, Dixie Chicks, Martina Sorbara, Deana Carter, Martina McBride, Norah
Jones...
I've been playing piano since I was 6 and am at Grade 8 standard. I've been
singing and writing songs for as long as I can remember, and this is my
passion. My older brother inspired me to take up the guitar when I was 14 and
this is my unrestrained therapy! I play it pretty much to accompany my voice...
I feel cooler singing when I have a guitar :)
What else? I'm at Ramsey Grammar in my final few weeks EVER; I'm taking A
Levels in Music, English Literature, French and General Studies, and
grade-providing am going to study Music at the Liverpool Institute for
Performing Arts in the fall - the school was founded by Paul McCartney in 1996
and the course is totally AMAZING!!! I'm going to spend the next three years
learning about performing, songwriting, recording, producing, industrial
studies, contemporary music, and I get private instrumental tuition.
Can't wait to play at the Blues Fest! "
Kate
Having heard Kate's CD I can tell you that she has oodles of talent and if you
didn't make her Bushyfest debut at The Bridge Inn on Friday night of the 2004
Festival
or at The Queens, Saturday afternoon, then you missed out - you would have been
impressed.
