Squeeze Difford Dates Into Your Schedule
30th March 2005
The principal lyric writer for that quintissential 70's/80's Band
Squeeze
is in Peel on Thursday the 31st March 2005 and the following night the 1st
April at The Centenary Arts Centre.
Rare as hen's teeth; one of the sold out tickets

Thanks to Triskel I caught the first of the two sold out shows on Thursday
night (31st March 2005)
and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Local singer/songwriter
Ben Dunderdale
impressed with his interesting guitar skills and some well crafted
songs.
"Please"
was one of Ben's tunes that left a deep impression and I am
still mulling over the ideas that it triggered.
Chris Difford

- Piano, came on to warm applause on a fairly cool
early Spring night and he was well advised to be wrapped up in a large scarf.
The music was of course beautifully played and the songs familiar and still
sounding fresh and edgy. Good stuff. Stage presentation at the Centenary Arts
Centre was cool and classy and deserves a mention too. Chris was easy and
relaxed at the centre

of proceedings and as raconteur he was as skilful as he is as a musician and
lyricist. His between-songs stories of the glory days of
Squeeze
and his
songwriting with
Glenn Tilbrook
were amusing and, more importantly,
interesting. Although these were taken from a book by
Jim Dury
they had the
bell-like ring of truth about them and contributed a great deal to the success
of the evening. The scarf eventually came off at the end of the night but only
because Chris had been too embarrassed to take it off earlier - or so he said.
We all laughed empathically. We'd been there too.
