May Blues Club Review
9th May 2005
Friday 6th May – the second meeting of the Isle of Man Blues Club in 2005.
Walter Ego
(with guest drummer
Johnny Peacock
) kicked things off with an hour of rocky blues and were joined by harp player
/ blues shouter
'Louie'
who promises
to jam again in the Queens in Laxey on Friday night of the festival. No other
musicians apparently could make it before 10.30 so it was straight over to
StoneChase
who took to the stage for their rockabilly revue and great stuff it
was too.
All of a sudden there were significant sections of
Backdoor Slam
, The
Barry Nelson Band
and
Carpe Diem
all wanting to play but time was running
short…. Barry, Val and Davey Knowles joined Johnny P for what Barry told us would be
one song….. but one is never enough and they closed the night with three
excellent tunes and Barry in a very exuberant mood!
(and Johnny P – what a man, drumming all night without a break!)
The next meeting is planned for
Friday July 1st
(we'll be at the Robert
Plant gig on June 3rd, sorry) so if you want to play get in touch. It would be nice
to have some traditional blues and/or some younger players along. Come on
all you acoustic players, backdoor slammers, rebels and lonesomes let's hear
from you…….e-mail
